Adobe Photoshop is great at removing unwanted objects from your photographs. Using our
cormorant picture we'll remove the leaf circled in red on the picture below. I know, there
no need to remove this but if it was a cola can or some other item of litter that spoilt the
picture, we can use the same technique.
First select the 'healing' tool marked in red on the picture shown below.
Adjust the size of the healing brush by clicking on the little down arrow marked in red on the screen below. Adjust the brush size until it creates
a circle that fits over the object we are removing. You can test it on the image while the brush size adjusting window is still displayed.
Move the circular brush to an area of similar colour and shade as the background to the object to be removed. Press the 'ALT' key and left click with the mouse. Now
move the circular brush over the object to be removed. Left click and hey presto! The object is gone.
You can remove much larger objects in the same way. Paint them out with the circular brush, as in the following example where an ugly seed feeder has been replaced by tree bark.
