Colour balance adjustment

All objects reflect light and their colour is determined by the amount of red, blue and green light that they reflect. It's usually referred to in photography terms as white balance.

In certain circumstances these colours can look unnatural in a photograph. Your eyes seems to have little trouble compensating but the camera, even the best one, is not as good as your eyes. Take the following picture as an example. It was shot very early morning, with a cloudless sky, as the sun had just appeared in full over the horizon. As a result it looks very orange. Too orange I'd say. Now you may like this effect but if you want something more natural, what can we do? Well there are a couple of Photoshop features that we can use depending on the format of our pictures. These are discussed in the topics below.
